Dear Parents and Carers
Re-opening of Ferrars Junior School
After much discussion and in consultation with the school governors we have made the difficult decision that due to staff shortages it is not possible for school to open for all children on Tuesday January 5th. The new arrangements set out below will likely be in place until January 18th 2021.
I can confirm that from Tuesday 5th January school will be open for all Year 5 and Year 6 children but in Year 3 and Year 4 will only be open for children classed as vulnerable, or the children of key workers. Key workers are those whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response. The parents and carers of vulnerable children will be contacted directly by telephone. If you believe you are a key worker and there is no one else who can care for your child then you need to contact school email@example.com as soon as possible and before 4:00 p.m. today with the following information.
Due to staff shortages we have very few places available so please do not request a place if you are not a key worker.
I would like to apologise for the lateness of this notice and the disruption it will cause to families and any upset it may cause to children. However, due to circumstances beyond our control it was not possible to pass on the information any earlier. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.
Year 5 and Year 6 children should come to school in school uniform as normal tomorrow. They will be dismissed at the end of the school day at 3:05 p.m. Vulnerable and key worker children in Year 3 and Year 4 should also arrive as normal. At the end of the school day Year 3 children will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m. at the Leagrave entrance and parents/carers will need to wait outside. Year 4 children will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m. at the main entrance in Lewsey Road and parents/carers will need to wait outside. All children should wear school uniform.
Online learning will be provided via Google Classroom to all children in Year 3 and Year 4 and needs to be completed daily.
Thank you for your continued support and co-operation during these challenging times.
