Our School Day

Year 3 & 4 - Morning session 8:50am - 12:00pm Afternoon session 12:45pm - 3:15pm
Year 5 & 6 - Morning session 8:50am - 12:45pm Afternoon session 1:30pm - 3:15pm

Compulsory hours are 9:00am until 3:15pm. The total time amounts to 31 hours and 15 minutes over a typical week.

  • Gates will be opened at 8:45 a.m. by a member of staff who will remain there to supervise the children entering school.  We ask that parents do not enter school at this time.
  • Children will make their way to the playground where they will be greeted by a member of staff.
  • Gates (apart from the main gate) will be locked at 9:00 a.m. and any children who arrive after this time should enter the school through the main gate and report to the school office.

Entering the school at the start of the day

You can use the following to enter the school:

  • Leagrave High Street
  • Small Lewsey Road gate
  • Main Lewsey Road gate

The end of school day

The gates will be opened at 3:10pm.

Parents can enter and leave the school by either gate or if you have a child in Ferrars Academy, you can walk up onto the junior playground via the steps and path.  You will not be able to return this way as Ferrars Academy will be locking their exits.

An adult will lead each class onto the playground to a designated area identified by a year group sign on a tall pole.

Year 3 and 4 children will be released to a responsible adult or older sibling.

The same will happen for Year 5 and Year 6 children unless the child has permission to walk home.

Pushchair and Wheelchair Access at the end of the school day

The small gate on Lewsey road will be opened at 3:00 p.m. each day to allow for pushchair and wheelchair access to the school playground. The gates will be closed at 3:10 p.m. and then reopened again at 3:20 p.m.

It is parents’ responsibility to ensure their children are in school on time. When children are late for school, they tend to be rushed and start the day in a stressful manner; this is not conducive for quality learning during the day.

The safety of children  is paramount to us. We are situated between two extremely busy roads, please consider this when arriving and leaving during the day. The school cannot be held responsible for children who arrive on the premises before 8.40am.
