We went to the Welly shed to change from our shoes and then we set about doing some more ground clearing.
We worked on two more allotments and learnt how to turn the soil upside down using the long handled forks. Everyone was very careful with the forks as they are quite sharp. Our aim was to turn the greenery of the remaining plants into the soil leaving the roots uppermost. This way the unwanted plants die and also feed the soil ready for the next crop. This is called "green manure".
We had also planted some bluebell bulbs around our memory tree.
