Useful Information

Working in partnership with other schools

Ferrars Junior School works in partnership with the other schools in the West Luton area.  This partnership of schools is committed to:

  • Sharing relevant information, e.g. behaviour, attendance, parental support
  • Sharing best practice and expertise
  • Co-operating and liaising with a range of services to support pupils and parents
  • Ensuring a smooth transition between settings/age-phases
  • Making best use of local resources and to share knowledge of these
  • Making Family Learning available to everyone, across the schools in the partnership
  • Promoting equality of opportunity
  • In accordance with LA guidelines, we will not tolerate any aggressive behaviour towards anybody on the premises of schools within the partnership

West Area Partnership Schools operate a system of inter-school support for children who have challenging behaviour.  This aims to reduce exclusions by offering the opportunity for children to be educated in a different school for a short period.  This way children realise that there are consequences to their behaviour and learn that continuing to behave in an unacceptable manner will not be tolerated.  We ask that parents support schools on the rare occasions that this option may be used.

Lost Property

Neither the school nor the Borough Council can accept responsibility for the loss of an article brought to school.  Whilst we will take every reasonable precaution, it is strongly recommended that parents should not normally allow children to bring items of personal value to school unnecessarily.   In the event of an article being lost, the child should first make a thorough search.  After this, enquiries should be made with the class teacher or the school office.

Mobile Phones

Children are not allowed to bring mobile phones into school.  If they do so, they will be confiscated and stored securely in the school office until a parent collects them.
