Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Ferrars

It is extremely important that we keep our children safe and secure at all times.

This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and safeguarding procedures in place.   All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the Policies related to safeguarding in our document below.

Ferrars Safeguarding Policy

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

If a visitor or volunteer has any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child they should report it to one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Officers.

Helpful Information

Operation Encompass (RELAY)

Our school has been given the opportunity to take part in a new operation that will run jointly with Bedfordshire Police and Luton Children’s Social Care.

Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting to schools of any domestic abuse incidents that occur in which a child was present and ordinarily resides at the incident location or with an involved party. We know that children can be significantly affected through witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse and this operation will allow us to better support our pupils and their families.

Two nominated members of staff, known as the RELAY Single Points of Contact (SPOCs), will be identified to receive in the information. At Ferrars Juniors, our RELAY SPOCs are Alison McDade and Karen McCullagh. They will be able to use information that has been shared with them, in confidence, to ensure that the right support is available should it be required by a child.

We are keen to offer the best support available to our pupils and we believe this is going to be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

If you have any concerns or questions then please contact Alison McDade, Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead, who will be happy to help.
